Math Plus Music (Math+Music) is an international public art program created by musician and mathematician Marcus Miller (Marcus the Artyst), Marianna Phillips and Terry Lovette.
It uses art and live musical performance to creatively explore technical, often mathematical, concepts. In doing so, we invite people to develop fresh insights, heal past trauma, form new connections, and cultivate personal growth.
Since this project began, Math+Music has curated events at the National Museum of Mathematics for 2018. We’ve also appeared in Scientific American, interviewed on Fox5 TV, traveled to Hong Kong, collaborated with Professors from Brown, Harvard and Princeton, and given talks at NYC public schools.
We create and curate events with various venues, spaces, and audiences. We are currently planning events, workshops and programming around the world for the 2019-2020 calendar year.
Math Plus Music is Based in New York City.
We aim to harness the power of music to create space for learning - and in doing so, change the world.
Our purpose is to foster curiosity, build community, and inspire as many people (and young minds) as possible to think outside the box.
